House churches?
My observation fifteen years ago was that 90% of those writing books about them …
Never bothered to first make one work in their own lives and hometowns.
They seemed more interested in the notoriety of promoting their own concepts of relational participatory gatherings …
Than actually learning to sustainably do it.
Disturbingly, this was true of nearly every major house church author back then.
As a result, their disingenuous but popular books effectively killed the “organic church” movement of the past.
In fact, I’ll let you in on a little secret:
The more popular their books, the less likely that they they were actually living what they were peddling.
I know, because I cared enough to ask – and trust me, they didn’t appreciate it!
Fortunately, nearly all those authors have now disappeared into obscurity or gone on to some new shtick.
But for the unwary, some of their books are still out there.
Nonetheless, God is now calling folks with an ear to hear away from those past authors …
And instead learn to sacrificially do it – without the need for notoriety or recognition – as Scripture actually shows it.
So are you willing to leave the inauthentic behind?
Because these are exciting times as God is renewing His call to be the multi-gifted, multi-functional, multi-part Body of Christ once again, like the New Testament actually commands …
Through relational participatory gatherings with ministry one to another for the mutual building up of each other.
